Effect of winter planting on growth and seed yield of soybean (Glycine max L. Merr) genotypes in north Khuzestan in Iran
نویسنده
چکیده مقاله:
Sowing date and genotype are factors affect different growth stages and yield of soybean. To evaluate the effect of sowing date and genotype on seed yield of soybean a field experiment was carried out as split plot arrangement in randomized complete block design with three replications at Safiabad Agricultural and Natural Resources Research and Education Center, Iran, in 2016 and 2018. The main plots consisted of four sowing dates (21st Januray, 9th February, 23rd February and 9th March) and twelve soybean genotypes (2001, 2002, 504, Saba, Katoul, Saman, Sari, SK93, SG2, SG5, Williams and Salend) were randomized in sub-plots. Results showed that delaying in sowing date led to reduction of flowering and growth duration of all soybean genotypes. Number of pod per plant reduced by 42% in 9th March sowung date compared to 21st Januray. The highest (36 pods) and the lowest (16 pods) number of pods per plant belonged to SK93 and Williams, respectively. The highest (872 kg.ha-1) and the lowest (782 kg.ha-1) seed yield obtained from 21st January and 9th March sowing date, respectively. SK93 genotype had the highest (1291 kg.ha-1) seed yield. Results of this experiment showed that lower seed yield (872 kg.ha-1) for the first sowing date of winter-sown soybean was not economically viable. Considering seed yield of SK93, further experimets are required to identify soybean genotypes adapted to winter planting.

Soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr].
In this chapter we describe an Agrobacterium tumefaciens transformation method of soybean that utilizes mature half seeds and regeneration from the cotyledonary node region. This method results in fertile transformed soybean plants and transgenic seed in approximately 9 months. Using mature half seeds as starting material has proven to be a reliable method that does not require additional wound...
متن کاملEffect of Nitrate on Nodule and Root Growth of Soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.)
The application of combined nitrogen, especially nitrate, to soybean plants is known to strongly inhibit nodule formation, growth and nitrogen fixation. In the present study, we measured the effects of supplying 5 mM nitrate on the growth of nodules, primary root, and lateral roots under light at 28 °C or dark at 18 °C conditions. Photographs of the nodulated roots were periodically taken by a ...
متن کاملInfluence of Chromium Stress on Proline Accumulation in Soybean (Glycine max L. Merr.) Genotypes
Four genotypes of soybean (Glycine max L. Merr.) were taken for investigation to know their response towards chromium stress. On the basis of seedling growth vigour index and dry weight, the genotypes JS 355 and P 1 were found tolerant to chromium stress when compared to the other genotypes. The tolerant genotypes had shown higher proline contents in their shoots.

The influence of 6-benzylaminopurine (BA) on the premature abscission of developing soybean, Glycine max (L.) Merr. fruits of 2 genotypes was studied. BA was applied during the critical period of fruit-setting. The tested concentration range of BA was from 1 micromolar to 5 millimolar; 2 millimolar was optimal. Spray application of 2 millimolar BA to terminal inflorescences at the R(3) developm...
متن کاملTranslocation of Sulfate in Soybean (Glycine max L. Merr)1
MATERIALS AND METHODS Sulfate translocation in soybean (Glycine max L. Merr) was investigated. More than 90% of the sulfate entering the shoot system was recoverable in one or two developing trifoliate leaves. In young plants, the first trifoliate leaf contained between 10 to 20 times as much sulfate as the primary leaves, even though both types of leaf had similar rates of transpiration and ph...
